Clean EUkip up NOW & make UKIP electable!
EUkip SHOWN TO BE UNFIT FOR PURPOSE - ANY PURPOSE!
By Its OWN ex. Treasurer!
Letter to Nigel Farage
Dear Nigel,
I think you should resign as the leader of the U.K. Independence Party now - before the Party disappears into oblivion.
The 922 votes that Mike Nattrass got in the Crewe By-Election, I believe, are pretty appalling.
The London election was even more disappointing - with this most despised Government in history to get less than 1% of the vote in a proportional representation type race is unforgivable and disastrous.
Few people give a stuff about what goes on in Brussels, and images of chickens are quite ridiculous. It’s here that matters. Real inflation of around 8%, soaring Council Tax and fuel bills, problems in hospitals where more people are dying from MRSA than on the roads, largely due to Government waste, and the politicians’ inability to take tough decisions should be our priorities.
We have good policies on immigration and nuclear power, and the Party should be much wider than focused simply on Europe. Most of the electorate do not care about Europe, and it’s going to be sidelined because of the impending economic problems on the horizon due to oil prices, public overspending, public sector pensions and political greed.
You should continue to lead the Party in Brussels, but stand down as Leader, at least with some dignity. Your one man band is just that now. It’s a one man band, but it’s out of tune. I am not on your payroll and say what I think. My 10% of the vote in the Welsh Assembly Election a year ago makes a mockery of your £100,000 Bromley debacle and the pitiful effort in London.
You have also been far too soft on immigration for years, and the BNP have largely stolen our thunder. UKIP is now deemed almost irrelevant by all my family and friends and many, many others. Your organization of the Cambridge event on the same day as the Bridgewater function was petty and pitiful. We need a big tent. You will soon only need a phone box to house your unpaid followers.
The deferral of Richard Suchorzewski’s membership, the shameful suspension of the Eddisbury branch, your silence and actions over your MEP’s expenses for so long (and I realize that the Sunday Times has now apologized) make me think very strongly about my future membership of the Party.
I think for one there should be a complete accountability available to all members of the Party as to what monies are received by our MEPs and where those monies go. Even if not made available to the public at large for obvious reasons, there should be an absolute full accounting to the NEC.
There were enough problems when I was Treasurer for me not to look into this, but it certainly something that I was wholly uncomfortable with.
Go and play in Brussels and let the Party start to build here at home or we are finished. We need a far wider spread of faces in the media. The Party might just recover the appeal that made the MEPs in 2004. 2.7 million people gave us their trust. Where are we now?
Reportable donations are down from £1.7 million in 2004 to £605,000 in 2005 to £373,000 in 2007, and a miserable £24,072 in the quarter to the 31st March, 2008.
While several of our MPs have been very generous in donations to the Party, yourself and Gerard Batten
have never, as far as I can see, made any reportable donations to the Party. Why not? I have even kept a copy of your Race Night cheque as a souvenir!
The EU is deemed to be gravy train, and I believe that a lot of our MEPs have forgotten that. It’s time for change.
I also think it’s disgraceful that you managed to cajole the NEC into paying you traveling expenses.
The last campaign of this sort I ran was to stop a merger between 130,000 accountants. The establishment spent £2 million on their cause and our group spent £3,000. They lost, we won. I make a very determined adversary.
I am implacably opposed now to your style of leadership. You seem to be in denial about what needs to be done. To say that the Party is a headless chicken is probably not far from the mark. For God’s sake (and the Party’s) go now.
Yours sincerely,
Bruce Lawson
P.S. If you would like to ring me for a discussion, I shall not put the phone down on you. In addition, I look forward very much to seeing you at the Business Meeting.PPS. Who wants to be a Millionaire - some light reading for your enjoyment - BL(Letter sent to Nigel Farage dated 2nd June, 2008)

I freely admit I have found Bruce Lawson to be pretty much an ass - arrogant, self important and staggeringly incompetent. As a self claimed business adviser I consider him to be a potential liability with clearly little or no understanding of law, justice or common sense - way out of his depth.
That said, although when it came to the crunch he seriously let down his assosciates who were trying to clean up EUkip and make it electable and I do question whether in view of the information he either had or had access to whether he should not have called in the Police to investigate.
Having failed to acquit his duty when he had the chance seems sad - Bruce Lawsons' letter above is however a step in the right directions but I would advise no one to follow him!
Regards,
